Osteopathy

Osteopathy is not an idea or a logic that can be applied starting from one's own understanding. It is a living interface with the innate healing forces in ourselves and the patient. This means that a treatment is not between the practitioner and the patient, but between both and a separate healing force that Dr. Sutherland has called Primary Respiration. Primary respiration has a supernatural intelligence that was part of Dr. Still's devotion in practice. Biodynamics as an osteopathic reality is as much about our personal growth and healing as it is about the patient.
The goal of a biodynamic approach in practice is not to remove lesions, but to see the patient find and relate to their health. This activates a healing process far superior to any man-made technique. You will see the technique performed by the formative force that created the patient and you will never be the same, except for the profound stillness that envelops the moment. I am not implying that the skillful hand technique is obsolete, but rather that a successful treatment encompasses all osteopathy. There is a pattern of need that is universal in disease and all our skill must be a hand to help serve ... But the nature of the treatment must be allowed to grow beyond what we know. In this process we meet the "master", a silent partner who will lead us by example in a service that lives only in the moment and not in a ritual of behavior.
The tide is your mentor and your love for the gift in all of us will deliver incredible clinical results in a general practice setting.
My wish is that all osteopaths try to see osteopathy as a living truth that embraces all forms of intuition and practice and that we are one as explorers of the healing arts. J.Jealous

The Osteopathic Injury

"the lesion field is not limited to tissue .... it is extensive and involves all levels of function. It begins with trauma ... all organizing stress into an isolated process ...."

What does this sentence mean? The lesion is organized by an intelligence, therefore it is necessary to allow an integration and that this characteristic must be respected, through the collaboration with this intelligence or rather with the need to be able to restore things. There are traumas or problems that cannot be solved in that moment, it is not the right time, there is no perfect timing, there is no condition, there is no functional reserve to be able to sustain the change , in order to support a suitable therapeutic process so that the result is maintained without the person having consequences or difficulties. So everything happens in respect of the person and his historical moment, because the person is in any case already in a therapeutic process that is his life, he is already guided by his median, by his intelligence that has led him up to there. , who brought him to us, who perhaps even before he came to us, has already had therapeutic processes.

Treat the entire patient

Treating the entire patient is often understood more as a philosophy than a reality. It is sad that so much of society is lost in philosophy. The whole is a living reality that can be directly appreciated. Dr. Still's teaching is about something larger than parts. The parts are effects of the intelligence, power and involuntary motion of the Whole. The parts receive the form and physiology from the Whole, as well as their fire to do work.

Treating the parts to reconstruct the Whole is a scientific error. It can not be done. The function of "wholeness" is necessary for the development and healing of the parts. Life reaches the parts through the Whole. When we perceive the Whole and it is restored… the parts are aligned and nurtured.

The cause

The Cause of a disease is not the disease itself but how one has become sensitive

In osteopathy the cause is much deeper than the symptoms. We do not believe that disease is a cause but a symptom of a deeper disproportion. Most therapists are unable to see the signs and symptoms presented by patients. The Cause in a reductionist structure is an isolated force. The effect is that which comes from the cause. This is a clear concept, except that nature or life is not exactly like that. Things don't always come from the local or the present time. The patient's entire life is the stage where the insult occurs. Any non-transmuted lesion remains with us. This lesion is not asleep, but it grows every day in the darkness of our unconscious world.

Primary Breathing shows us the way and is an invaluable tool to help us "Find the Cause".
